He wrote "Mister Bojangles", and hit the charts with "L.A. Freeway". Her country hits included Kathy Mattea's "Love at the Five and Dime" and Suzy Bogguss' "Outbound Plane". Jerry Jeff Walker and Nanci Griffith were legendary Texas Troubadours. Songwriters at Play presents a tribute to their music, performed by local and touring artists. Performers include the SoCal duo called The Odd Birds; Katharine Edmonson of Banshee in the Kitchen, accompanied by Tom Walters of the Taproots; Santa Barbara's Lone Quail; L.A.'s Katie Ferrara, and Central Coast favorites Ynana Rose, Cassi Nicholls, Bradly Coats, and John Sandoval.
The concert is produced by Songwriters at Play: husband-wife team, Steve Key and Bonnie Nelson-Key. They have hosted tributes to Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, and John Prine at Humdinger, and have also presented monthly open mics.
