CongregationHouse first KCHP Radio Theater broadcast brings us a dark comedy, The Memoirs of Beatrice Miller.
Beatrice Miller grew up in the small Midwest town of Greenville in the late 1940’s, where Uncle Walter runs the family business, Ries Mercantile. Beatrice loved playing store as a child and at twelve she is old enough to be behind the counter of the Mercantile. As a teen, a trip to the big city to visit her eccentric Aunt Ruth lands her a job opportunity at the prestigious Breckschneider’s Department Store. When new acquaintances threaten to interrupt her idealistic life and cause problems for those she loves; Aunt Ruth shows Beatrice how easy it is to let them go, perhaps permanently.
Sometimes letting go is our only option, even if it means getting rid of a few people…
